The main Allied forces were Great Britain, the United States, the Soviet Union, China. These leaders formed the big three: Franklin D. Roosevelt, Winston L. S. Churchill, and Joseph V. Stalin. The Allied powers all fought for the same goal: to destroy the Axis powers and preserve peace. This alliance was formed because of the unprovoked war by the Axis. All leaders had different veiws of what the world should be like afterward. Churchill just wanted to keep Germany from rising again. Roosevelt wanted to eliminate all facism. But Stalins veiw were very rational. Total influence over Europe. These differenceswere settlered with Atlantic Charter.
The main Axis forces were Germany, Italy, and Japan. The leaders of these countries, all dictators, were Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini, and Emperor Hirohito. The Axis goals were to "establish and maintain a new order of things...to promote the mutual prosperity and welfare of the peoples concerned." They all had common goals: total rule of the world, the Soviet Union wiped off the map, and territorial expansion.
Even the citizens of a former Axis country would see the Allies as the good guys. While the Axis wanted total control over the worlds, the Allies wanted to return the world to a respecful and peacful state. The Allies also were able to agree on a combination of goals that they wanted to accomplish after the war. After the war the Allies went on to form the still in use United Nations. This was a successful WWII version of the League of Nations.
